I’m still waiting for summer to start. I don’t think it’s going to – the recent break in the rain has been accompanied by a noticable drop in temperatures and the autumn leaves are starting to fall.

I know it’s getting towards the end of the year because prominently placed in Somerfields yesterday were those Christmas pots of Cheese Footballs and Twiglets in reindeer-themed packaging.

I’ve been eating cheese footballs at Christmas time for some years now and I still can’t decide if I like them! Sometimes I think I like the cheese but not the wafer and other times I don’t like either but I still find them strangely compelling. Maybe it’s because cheese and footballs are two things that don’t usually cross and so the union is such a novelty that I have to try it. Anyway, if you were going to buy me snacks for Christmas, don’t buy me cheese footballs – I don’t think I like them.

That wasn’t the only interesting thing about my trip to Somerfields, I also discovered that there is a “24: The Drink”. Next time I’m in a position where my actions could save millions of lives, I hope I’ve had the foresight to buy a can of that.
